Types ofTitanium Sheets Plates:

There are five types of Titanium Sheets Plates are available. Their classification is based on various factors given below:

Grade Based:

Commercial Pure (CP) or Titanium Alloys is how Titanium Sheets Plates are classified. For example, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4 etc

Manufacture Process:

Titanium Sheets Plates is also classified according to the method in which they are manufactured. They are as follows:

  • Hot Rolled Titanium Sheets Plates
  • Cold Rolled Titanium Sheets Plates
Surface Finish:

The quality of surface finish is one of the ways Titanium Sheets Plates are classified. These include Mill Finish, Polished Finish, Pickled Finish, and Brushed or Matte Finish.

Thickness Focussed:

Titanium Sheets Plates can also be classified using Thickness. Usually, the classification is divided into two groups under 4.75 mm i.e. Titanium Sheets and above 4.75 mm i.e. Titanium Plates

Titanium Sheets Plates Manufacturing Process:

The manufacturing of Titanium Sheets Plates involves the following steps given below:

  • The process begins with the selection of high quality of Titanium in to form of sponge and scrap. They are then melted by exposing them to vacuum arc remelting furnace (VAR) or electron beam cold hearth furnace (EBCH). The outcome of this initiation step is the production of titanium ingot
  • Ingots are then heated and undergo Rolling or Forging to form slabs
  • The Titanium slabs are then transformed into sheets or plates by using hot rolling or cold rolling methods
  • Annealing is a procedure that is used to relive internal stress and increase the ductility of the rolled Titanium Sheets Plates
  • The surface of the rolled of sheets and plates made from Titanium are smoothened using pickling, polishing, brushing and matte finishing. Coating is to be done if required
  • The Titanium Sheets Plates are cut with precision using tools like waterjet cutting, laser cutting, or shearing. It is followed by quality testing using tests like Ultrasonic Testing (UT), chemical analysis, and mechanical testing
  • Finally, the Titanium Sheets Plates are packed well in wooden pallets, protective wrapping, or vacuum-sealed packaging to protect it from damage during transportation. They are then despatched.
